The Votes for Women exhibition is a show in celebration of the nineteenth amendments ratification. The exhibition displays the contributions of the radical women in antislavery societies such as women activists of the late nineteenth century, the “New Woman” of the turn of the century, and the militant suffragists of the 1910's.  Due to the exhibition showing things from between 1840 to 1920, the poster is an illustrated time line of women throughout the time period to today. The exhibit also displays how women have had to struggle even after the nineteenth amendment, it was important to bring modern day women into the design as well.
